Miss kays & Harleys , Piglet's
Miss kay had her piglet's the 19th and 20th of this January. by 5pm on Friday night miss kay was not showing any signs in progressing into stronger contractions and we began to get worried. We sleeved her and determined there was a very large piglet that couldn't be pulled. A past FFA Member, Dr. Amy Berry, came and assisted Miss kay, she came to the conclusion that the best thing that we could do for miss kay, was a C-Section and hopefully miss kay would recover. after two hours of working on the C-Section, Dr. Berry was able to remove five HUGE heathy piglets and one stillborn. unfortunately early Saturday morning, Miss kay lost her fight to recover. But we were very fortunate to have a student, Devon who just had a sow farrow earlier this week and have a smaller litter. she is now successfully nursing the five orphaned piglets, along with hers. this is such a great example of what E.M. tiffany meant  when he wrote about the "joys and discomforts of agriculture life"
